As the year comes to a close: what gutsy moves are you making in the next decade? As someone who doesn’t settle for “same old, same old”, wired to grow, talk to me about your RESULTS, not how you’ll get there. Once you set your GGS (Gutsy Guidance System),  make no mistake we find a way.

Today, I’d like to ask about your environment. If I did a surprise inspection of your home, what would it look like?  Are there place settings set on your kitchen table? Is your bookshelf nicely tidied and organized? Would you take my hand and lead me to a room you call your own which inspires the next chapter of your life? If not, would I see a cluttered dining room table serving as a makeshift desk and office? Would I meet a grumpy naysayer who lives with you and who brings you down at every turn?

Recently I met with a fashion designer and former bridal store owner from Italy who had moved her entire shop into her 2-bedroom apartment. Any fly on those walls would clearly see, she was not parting with her works of art  – those gorgeous silk and satin handmade dresses. If you can imagine columns of plastic crates from floor to ceiling lined every wall. Speaking of her past business life in that environment, she could barely breathe.  Without knowing anything about her gutsy breakthrough goals, one thing was clear. Whatever she hopes to achieve, it will never be given the space to grow and get off the ground in that environment.

The same applies to you. Your physical space plays a large role in holding you back and can further feed into habits which keep you stuck. Rather than doing the things that you want, you may be falling into accepting your surroundings and life for what they are.

As humans we would rather live in our comfort zone and keep things the same then act on the impulses from our gut to create change, even though they are a trusted source that nudges us to doing new things that will benefit us. When you tolerate an environment which doesn’t ground you and nurture your potential, subconsciously it will also stop you from acting on the things that you want to attract in your life.  Aaaand oh yes, it goes the other way. When we are focused on things that we no longer want, they inevitably show up everywhere.

To start this next decade off with more freedom from time constraints and pressure to perform, commit to creating a supportive space for yourself. Start with recognizing the things you have made allowances for and which now need to go. You know what they are. They are the things in your life which are distracting you from what you want to create for yourself. It could be a disorganized office, a serial texter who needs your ear, a challenging relationship, an overhaul of your filing system, a cluttered car trunk. These all contribute to an unstructured environment which will pull your attention away from what you should be focusing on, your gutsy breakthrough goals – realistic things you can achieve that will stretch, but not freeze you.

Invest in YOU. As a happy side effect, that’s when others do too. If you’re ready to start the year off with focus, and a commitment to the non-negotiables in your life-  those breakthrough goals that have been calling for quite some time,  learn more about coaching programs here.

I am wishing you a blissfully peaceful holiday hiatus enjoying downtime with family and friends, enjoy!

With guts and grace, you’ve got this!
